Tact is the knack of making a point without making an enemy. - Isaac Newton
One thing I know about life is that it is harder to get something started than to keep it going in the right direction. Another thing that I know about life is that it takes effort to change the direction once it is off course. The amount of effort that it takes to correct your course depends upon the mass and velocity of the wrong direction.
Thus, if you are going in the wrong direction, you will need to take strong action to stop or shift your momentum. Sir Isaac Newton discovered this phenomenon in his First Law, "A body at rest remains at rest, and a body in motion continues to move in a straight line with a constant speed unless and until an external unbalanced force acts upon it."
If you feel that you are getting nowhere, remember that there is a law working against you. However, when you reach the tipping point, the law will work for you. The key is having the knowledge that any change in direction will take more effort than maintaining the same course.
Of course, he was studying planetary movement and not individual success. However, the laws that he discovered appear to be just as true for personal success. To take advantage of this knowledge, you need to know two things; what direction you are going and what direction you want to go. From there, it's just a matter of force - unbalanced force - to correct your path.
